Your products and forecasts
Products shows everything Shelfcast has read from your Shopify catalog, with each product’s stock, demand and suggested reorder side by side. Open a product to see where its numbers come from and to change how it’s planned.
The Products list
Section titled “The Products list”A product with several variants shows one row with totals, then a row for each variant underneath.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Product | The product and variant. |
| Supplier | The supplier you reorder it from, or — if it has none. |
| Available | Shopify’s available quantity, added up across your active locations. Red at zero or below. Not tracked means Shopify doesn’t track this product’s inventory. |
| Incoming | Units still to arrive on your Shelfcast purchase orders that are Ordered or Partially received. |
| Daily demand | How many Shelfcast expects you to sell each day. |
| Days of stock | Available ÷ daily demand: how long what’s on hand will last. Incoming isn’t counted. — when there’s no demand. |
| Reorder | The suggested quantity to order now, if any. |
Search by product, SKU or barcode finds a product from part of its title or SKU. Barcodes have to be typed in full.
Filter by Vendor, Supplier or Stock:
- Needs reorder — products with a suggested quantity.
- Out of stock — products with nothing available, whether or not they’re selling.
A product’s page
Section titled “A product’s page”View in Shopify opens the product in your Shopify admin. Each variant has its own sections.
One row per location, with Shopify’s Available, Committed, On hand and Incoming quantities as Shelfcast last read them. Locations you’ve deactivated in Shopify are marked Inactive. “Not stocked at any location.” means Shopify has no stock record for it anywhere yet.
Incoming here is Shopify’s own figure, so it can include stock on its way from other sources, such as transfers made in Shopify.
Available updates as soon as Shopify reports a change. The other three refresh with the nightly sync, or when you receive or count that product.
Suppliers
Section titled “Suppliers”Each supplier the product is linked to, with their Supplier SKU, Cost, Minimum and Pack size. The one suggestions use is marked Preferred. Manage suppliers takes you to your supplier list. → Link products to suppliers
Sales over the last 12 months
Section titled “Sales over the last 12 months”Units sold each month. This covers only the sales Shelfcast has records of: the 60 days of orders Shopify shared when you installed, plus every day since.
Forecast
Section titled “Forecast”- The method used, such as Steady or Seasonal.
- Daily demand, to two decimal places.
- Days of stock.
- Suggested reorder.
- A line such as “Planned for 14 days of lead time and 30 days of stock, from 412 days of history.”
The suggestion also includes your safety stock days, even though that line doesn’t mention them. The days of history count from when the product was created in Shopify, or its first sale if that’s earlier — not from when Shelfcast’s sales records begin.
Before Shelfcast has worked out a forecast, you’ll see “Not forecast yet. Forecasts refresh after each catalog and sales sync.” → How forecasting works
Planning
Section titled “Planning”Three settings for this variant. Press Save to keep them; you’ll see “Planning settings saved” and the forecast is worked out again straight away.
- Forecast method — Automatic, Seasonal, Steady, New item or Reorder point. Turned off on Starter, where every product uses its reorder point.
- Reorder point and Reorder quantity — used when the method is Reorder point, and for every product on Starter. → Reorder points
A sync never overwrites these settings.
Products marked Not tracked
Section titled “Products marked Not tracked”Not tracked means Shopify isn’t counting stock for that variant. Shelfcast can’t plan without a stock level, so these products:
- get no forecast or suggestion;
- aren’t included in stock counts;
- when you receive them, are marked received in Shelfcast without any change in Shopify.
To include one, turn on Track quantity for it in Shopify. Shelfcast picks up the change with the next sync — overnight, or when you press Sync now in Settings → Data.
Products deleted in Shopify
Section titled “Products deleted in Shopify”When you delete a product in Shopify, Shelfcast keeps it marked Deleted in Shopify, and its page shows “This product was deleted in Shopify. Its history is kept.” Purchase orders, counts and history that include it still read correctly.
