Reorder suggestions

The Reorder page answers “what should I order now?” It lists the products that need reordering, most urgent first, with a suggested quantity for each: enough to last until the next order would arrive, rounded up to what the supplier sells.

Column What it shows
Product The product and variant, with a checkbox for creating purchase orders.
Supplier The supplier you reorder it from, with their lead time underneath, or No supplier.
Available Available stock across your active locations. Red at zero or below.
Incoming Units still to arrive on your open Shelfcast purchase orders.
Daily demand How many Shelfcast expects you to sell each day.
Days left Available ÷ daily demand. Incoming isn’t counted.
Method How the suggestion was worked out: Steady, Seasonal, New item, Reorder point or No sales yet.
Order The suggested quantity.

The most urgent products come first: those with the fewest days left, then those with bigger suggestions. Products with no demand come last.

Underneath, Shelfcast explains the arithmetic — “Each suggestion covers the supplier’s lead time, 30 days of stock and 7 safety days, less what is available and already on order.” — and when forecasts were last updated. → Planning settings

  • Search products by title or SKU, or by a full barcode.
  • Supplier — one supplier, All suppliers, or No supplier to find products you haven’t linked yet.
  • Vendor — products from one vendor in Shopify.
  • Show — Needs reorder (the default) lists only products with a suggestion. All products lists everything, so you can check why something isn’t suggested.

“Nothing to reorder right now” means every product has enough stock and incoming to last until the next order would arrive. Before forecasts exist, the page shows “Reading your sales history” instead.

On Growth and Pro, you can turn suggestions into draft purchase orders, one per supplier, in a click.

  1. Tick the products you want to order. Each one’s Order fills in with the suggestion, and you can change it. A quantity of 0 leaves that product off.
  2. Choose where it’s delivered under Deliver to: any active location.
  3. Press Create purchase orders.

Shelfcast creates one draft for each supplier among the products you ticked:

  • Each line uses the quantity you set, and the supplier’s cost (or the cost in Shopify if they don’t have one).
  • The Expected date is today plus the longest lead time among that supplier’s products.
  • The order is marked “Created from reorder suggestions”.

You’ll see, for example, “3 purchase orders drafted”. With one order you go straight to it; with several, you land on the Drafts tab of Purchase orders.

Nothing is sent or placed yet. Open each draft, check it, then email it to the supplier or mark it as ordered. → Send a purchase order to your supplier

Products with No supplier can’t be ticked — link them to a supplier first. If none of the products you ticked has a supplier, you’ll see “None of the selected products has a supplier to order it from.” → Link products to suppliers

If you set every product for one supplier to 0, Shelfcast still creates an empty draft for that supplier. Delete it with Delete draft.

Suggestions on Starter come from the reorder point you set on each product, and the page says so: “Suggestions on the Starter plan come from reorder points.” Products without a reorder point aren’t suggested. → Reorder points

Daily demand and Days left still show on Starter, as a guide. In place of Create purchase orders you’ll see View plans, since creating orders from suggestions is part of Growth and Pro. You can still create purchase orders by hand. → Create a purchase order

  • Draft and archived products in Shopify are still forecast, so they can appear here. Leave them unticked if you’ve stopped selling them.
  • Suggestions cover your whole store. Available and incoming are added up across your locations, whichever one you deliver to.
  • Products marked Not tracked never appear, since Shopify doesn’t count their stock.
