Your setup checklist

Your Shelfcast Home page opens with a setup guide, Set up Shelfcast, with five steps and a count of how many are done. Each step ticks itself off when Shelfcast sees it’s been done — you don’t mark anything by hand.

Here’s what each step is for, in the order they appear.

What it does: Shelfcast reads your products, stock and recent sales from Shopify. This starts by itself when you install, so there’s nothing to do but wait a few minutes. While it runs, the step reads “Syncing your catalog…”.

Done when: the first sync of your products has finished. View products takes you to the Products page.

Shopify shares the last 60 days of orders, so that’s where your sales history starts. → Install and first sync

What it does: gives Shelfcast the businesses you buy from. Each supplier can have its own lead time, email address and currency.

Two buttons:

  • Import from Stocky opens Import and export, where you can upload suppliers, their products and your purchase order history as CSV files.
  • Add supplier opens a blank supplier form.

Done when: you have at least one supplier. → Add your suppliers · Moving from Stocky

What it does: tells Shelfcast who you buy each product from, with that supplier’s SKU, cost, minimum order quantity and pack size. You can link all of one vendor’s products at once.

Why it matters: suggestions use the supplier’s lead time and round up to their minimum and pack size. A product with no supplier still gets a suggestion, but you can’t turn it into a purchase order from the Reorder page.

Done when: at least one product is linked to a supplier. Open suppliers takes you to your supplier list. → Link products to suppliers

What it does: View suggestions opens the Reorder page, which lists what to order now from each supplier.

Done when: forecasts have been worked out and at least one product is linked to a supplier. This step ticks itself off on its own; Shelfcast doesn’t track whether you’ve opened the page. → Reorder suggestions

What it does: Create purchase order opens a new purchase order. On the Growth and Pro plans you can also create draft orders straight from your suggestions, one per supplier.

Done when: any purchase order exists — a draft or an imported one counts. → Create a purchase order

The guide disappears by itself once all five steps are done. You can also:

  • Collapse it with the chevron button (Show or hide the setup guide) to keep it out of the way.
  • Dismiss it with the × button (Dismiss setup guide).

Below the guide, four counts link straight to the matching list:

  • To reorder — products with a suggested quantity to order.
  • Out of stock — products with no available stock that are still selling.
  • Open purchase orders — orders that are Ordered or Partially received.
  • Counts in progress — stock counts that are In progress or being applied to Shopify.

Expected deliveries lists up to five open purchase orders, the soonest expected first, with their supplier, status, expected date and total. View all opens your full list.

At the bottom, Catalog synced and Sales history synced show when Shelfcast last read your store from Shopify.

If you have more active locations or SKUs than your plan covers, Home shows a reminder with a View plans button. It’s only a reminder: nothing stops working. → Plans and pricing
